Wall Flower Studio is located in Haliburton County, Ontario, Canada. Karen and her family moved to Haliburton from Toronto several years ago.
After earning her Grade 13 diploma in Toronto, majoring in Visual Art at the Claude Watson School for the Arts, Karen earned her General Plantsman/Floriculture Certificate from the University of Guelph.
Karen enjoys garden photography, as well as writing about many available topics on gardening.
Her articles generally focus on what ôs achievable in a zone 4 climate, the promotion of native plants, garden decor, pollinators, rock gardening, container gardening, organic gardening, as well as seed collecting/heirloom plant varieties. Vermicomposting and beekeeping are also of great interest to Karen.
Karen was the Assistant Horticulturalist at the Toronto Botanical Garden. She helped design and plant various themed gardens there including the Children ôs Alphabet Garden, a kitchen garden, and a steppable Snail garden with herbs.
Previous to this, Karen worked as a floral designer in Toronto for many years at Van Nes Flowers. (One of her favourite jobs to date!)
She has also worked as a tropical plant maintenance technician, and as a freelance designer with several flower shops and independant designers and wedding consultants.
