The McClymont family established the Century Orchard in 1845 and was one of several orchards planted in this area at that time. Today, it still remains one of the few orchards with roots dating back into the 19th century.
The orchard is located on a pinnacle of land just far enough from Lake Huron to escape most of the killer frosts of spring and is also protected by a cedar windbreak to offset the winds the lake can offer. The entrance has 50 evergreens that cover the driveway, which leads you to another 15 hardwoods surrounding the farm buildings.
There are several varieties of fruit in the orchard. The harvest begins with cherries then plums, followed by apples, more plums and pears. All this bounty starts in July and
finishes sometime in late October.
We are open July, August, September, October. Our hours are: Tuesday - Friday, 10 AM to 6 PM Saturday & Sunday, 8 AM to 8 PM
