Jenala Farms

We sell only produce grown on our own farm. This is a rare find in today's world of "truck farmers". Many farm markets and produce stands simply visit the food terminal every night and sell you day old produce. Still slightly fresher than grocery store produce, it's already approaching mid-life compared to Jenala Farms produce. So-called "local" produce has sometimes enjoyed a fairly long truck ride! Because we supply you only with what we grow right here on our farm, we can pay strict attention to every small detail that goes into creating the perfect fruit or vegetable. We constantly watch for new varieties and production practices to give us an edge. An accredited lab analyzes soils and plants to ensure plant nutrients are in balance to provide optimal development. We have completed an Ontario Environmental Farm Plan and take all measures possible to leave our land in better shape than when we took it over. We purchased our farm in 1997. After living in town for a few years we had the "itch" to raise our family in the country and we really wanted more space. Looking for ways to maximize productivity from a small land base led us to explore fruit and vegetable farming. The Orangeville/Shelburne areas lacked any significant fresh produce farms and our farm's central location with sandy-loam soil made these crop's seem like a natural fit. A healthy farm pond also provides much needed water to our strawberries for both frost protection and watering purposes.
